Registration of a pledge agreement

The patent applications and patents which can be pledged in Sweden through registration at PRV are:

  • Swedish and European patents which are valid in Sweden
  • Swedish patent applications
  • PCT applications and European patent applications which have had a translation of their patent claims published by PRV

The request for registration in the patent application diary and the patent register of a pledge agreement should include:

  1. the request for registration of a pledge agreement
  2. the number of the patent or patent application which the registration concerns (filing or publication number)
  3. the pledgor's (patent holder's/applicant's) name
  4. the pledgee's name and address
  5. the date of the pledge agreement

The request must be signed by the patent owner or the pledgee, or an authorized agent.

The request for registration of a pledge agreement must be accompanied by a certified copy of the agreement or by extracts from the agreement showing the pledge and the rights which have been pledged, a power of attorney for an agent (if any) and the set fee.

If the pledge agreement is not written in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish or English, PRV can request that the person requesting the registration gets the document translated into Swedish.
