PRV administers the registration of all Swedish municipal coats of arms. Applications to register a municipal coat of arms must be submitted in writing to:

You must attach the following to the application form:

• A description (blazon) of the coat of arms.
• Three colour pictures of the coat of arms with a shield height of 14 cm.
• A certified copy of the decision regarding the adoption of the coat of arms from the municipal council or the county administrative board.
• A statement from the State Board of Heraldry, when required according to the Act on the Protection of Coats of Arms and Certain Other Official Designations (1970:498).

When you file the application, you must pay a registration fee. The current fee is stated in PRV's list of fees. Please note that PRV only registers Swedish municipal coats of arms. If you have any questions or queries regarding private family coats of arms, you are advised to contact the House of Nobility or another heraldic association/coat of arms roll.
