eOLF to be discontinued – Online Filing SE takes over

On 11 December 2025, eOLF, the online filing service provided by the European Patent Office (EPO) for submitting patent documents, will be discontinued. The service has long been used by professional users such as patent attorneys and companies. When it is phased out, Online Filing SE will take over.

Online Filing SE was launched on 11 September 2025 and is now the service to use for submitting Swedish national patent applications, EP validations, supplementary protection certificates, PCT, and EP1001 filings.

The new service is based on a system from the EPO but has been developed and adapted by PRV for Swedish users. Unlike eOLF, Online Filing SE is completely web-based, which means you don’t need to install any software. You simply log in online and can start working right away.

The goal of Online Filing SE is to make work easier for professionals in the patent field. The system offers improved accessibility, a clearer structure, and a smoother workflow. It is available in both Swedish and English and works regardless of where you are located.

Since its launch in September, PRV has received positive feedback from users. Many highlight that the new system feels more modern, clearer, and easier to use than eOLF.

As eOLF will be closed on 11 December 2025, PRV recommends that you start using Online Filing SE as soon as possible.
