New Grant Procedure at PRV

The Swedish Intellectual Property Office (PRV) has accelerated the grant procedure for patents.

Under this new process, a patent may be granted on the same day that PRV receives the publication fee. For applicants e.g. wishing to file a divisional application, it is important to note that such a division must be completed before PRV receives the publication fee. This is to ensure that there is sufficient processing time before the patent is granted. The payment deadline is specified above.

Once the patent is about to be granted, PRV will issue the report “Decision to Grant a Patent” and the patent will immediately be officially announced and formally granted. Previously, PRV issued the report “Information on Grant of a Patent,” which included a scheduled grant date. This report is no longer in use.
