Web filing of patent documents

WIPO certificates are not supported in this service, since August 2026. We refer users without a Swedish bank-ID to the online service.  

Web fining of patent documents is the PRV online service for submitting patent applications and documents affiliated with patent applications. The service is targeted towards entrepreneurs and individuals who want to apply for patents in Sweden.

To file documents with this e-service you need a Swedish BankID. Your submission is completed only when you have been provided the opportunity to download the submission receipt.

Keep in mind that documents relating to a defense secret invention or a potential defense secret invention should always be filed in paper format.

In web filing of patent documents, it is possible to:

• File national patent applications (SE applications). You will need to prepare separate documents of Description, Claims, Abstract and potentially Drawings in PDF format to be ready for upload. Save your application number and submission receipt.
• File additional documents in existing national (SE) and international (PCT) applications or European (EP validation).
• Sign up /Register an authorised user for electronic communication in patent files (national and PCT). Attach the form: Appendix authorized user (135 kB) as Other documents in Web filing patent.

• You can also register a group of authorized users by first applying for a Group ID where you specify which users are to be included. When you apply for a patent, you can register your Group-ID instead of registering one or more authorized users.

• Submit a response to a technical order
• Submit request for publication of translation of a European patent application or patent (for example EP validation)
• You can also apply for supplementary protection and extended supplementary protection.

To the e-service Online Filing SE

Online Filing SE is a web-based e-service for filing Swedish patent applications and other documents related to patent. The service is provided by the European Patent Office (EPO) and has been adapted by the Swedish Intellectual Property Office (PRV) for Swedish users. It is primarily intended for professional users such as patent attorneys and IP professionals employed at companies, as well as individuals without Swedish bank-ID.

You sign in using an EPO account with two-factor authentication. Additional authentication is not required to sign or send submissions. Keep in mind that documents relating to a defence secret invention or a potential defence secret invention must always be filed in paper format.

In the e-service, you can:

• File national patent application (SE application)
• File international patent application (PCT Application)
• Request for publication of a translation of a European patent application or granted patent (EP validation)
• File application for supplementary protection and extended supplementary protection
• File additional documents in existing applications. 
• File EP-application (EP1001)

If you would like to receive official communications from PRV digitally via My Pages – Patent SE, you should, for each new SE or PCT application filed through Online Filing SE:

• Enter a registered group ID in the “Group ID” field of the SE application, or

• Attach the Authorized User form to the SE or PCT application

ePCT, WIPO

PCT applications can be filed to us using the web based e-service called ePCT issued by WIPO. It is also possible to electronically file additional documents in existing PCT applications. New ePCT users have to create an ePCT account and log in with a two-factor authentication, or a soft certificate issued by WIPO.

Keep in mind that documents relating to a defense secret invention or a potential defense secret invention should always be filed in paper format.

ePCT can be used to:

• Submit PCT applications
• Complement existing PCT cases
• Sign up /Register an authorised user for electronic communication in patent files (PCT). Attach the form:Appendix authorized user (135 kB)
  as Other - Applicant Correspondence in your application in ePCT.
