Sweden joins Convergence Programme 8

On October 15th, a new practice has been adopted by the EUIPO, CP8. Sweden implement the new practice on January the 15th, 2021.

The EU intellectual property offices cooperate within the framework of the convergence programs. The purpose of the collaboration is to harmonize practices in the EU regarding various specific sub-areas of trademark and design law.

The authorities have now agreed on a common practice regarding using of a trademark in a form differing from the one registered. The purpose is to identifying general principles for assessing when the use of a trademark in a form differing from the one registered alters its distinctive character.
